Help & Advice

Below we have tried to answer some frequent questions we get asked. Please get in touch with us if you cannot find the reply you are looking for.

  • What is the best way to get to you? driving or Flying?

We have a lot of repeat customers that visit us year after year and and when they give flying a try they ask us: “Why did we ever drive ? We’re most definitely flying again!”….Flying is by far the most easiest, quickest and cheapest way to travel to us. A flight with Ryanair or Flybe is just over the hour and Limoges airport is 20 minutes from the lakes. We offer a free airport pick up and drop off service to and from Limoges airport or you can hire a car at the airport if you like to get out and about.

  • How much does travelling to you cost?

Driving will cost approximately, per car, £450-£700 return journey (depending on where you live in the UK) that is taking in to account your petrol, ferry/train ticket, and tolls. Driving takes roughly 10 hours door to door if you live in the south of England and 15-20 hours from, let’s say Liverpool.

Flying will cost approximately £70 – £250 depending on when you travel (inside or out of school holidays) and checked in luggage. Flying takes 1 hour 15 mins to 2 hours.

  • Are we allowed to bring our own bait?

No bait is allowed to be brought on to any of our lakes.

  • How much bait will we need?

That’s a hard one! If you say 4kg of boilies and a 25kg sack of pellet each person that’s the start…But if the fish are feeding and you are catching well then you need to feed them more with the pellet (not necessarily with the boilies)…It all depends on the week and how the fish are feeding….We will be able to advise you better nearer your arrival.

  • What do I need to bring with me?

If hiring our tackle you will need to bring your 3 reels, bite alarms, a very small tackle box and a sleeping bag if night fishing. Slippers are always good for the house.

  • Are towels and bedding supplied?

You can bring your own or you can hire from us for 5 euro’s per bed and 5 euro’s per towel per person.

  • Do I need a rod licence?

No it is a private lake and you can fish for 24 hours.

  • How far are you from Calais?

Approximately 6-7 Hours drive.

  • Is there a swimming pool?

The cabin lake has an above ground pool which is open from mid May to September.

  • When do the fish spawn?

Spawning is very hard to predict nowadays! The weather plays the biggest part as it all depends on water temperature. Normally it is June but we have seen them spawning from April through to August….but it doesn’t normally affect the fishing as there are to many fish in the lake and they do not all spawn together.
