Matt:”If I had put more time into catching fish & less time into catching the sun, I would have done a lot better. However, with my tan I am now as good looking as the 28lb Common I caught. I imagine the Tackle Tarts look more like the pasty white maggots I used to catch my 32lb Mirror.
A really great lake with an amazing mix of fish. Thanks Gary.”
Dan:”We came as a family of casual fishermen, here to holiday 1st and fish 2nd. That’s exactly what we did. Fishing part-time and soaking in the rays was amazing. (weather was very sunny). As a group we still caught loads of fish including a 60+ cat, some beautiful koi and a huge grass carp. We even caught the lakes first ever carp from the surface (good old bubble float). This fish is now named “Ted” after my dad who landed him. So Tackle Tarts, feel fortunate we mainly chose to chill out rather than fish. Can you imagine how much we would have embarrassed you if we actually tried!?! I hear you didn’t have the skills to land a big cat (we did)?? oh dear!
I also see you like to flesh out your catch reports with 5lb tench…..No doubt we will see roach creeping into your October reports! How sad… You’d better come back in October and try and redeem yourselves. Hang your heads in shame and bow down to the mighty “Del boilie & the Rodders”! P.S. My brother Jon out fished Chris, who by all accounts was bankside 24/7. Jon’s 1104lbs was achieved with approx half of the time (he did just 2 nights) and from a swim deemed by the Tackle Tarts to be the short straw (Wayne’s swim) 🙂
HAPPY FISHING ALL! 🙂
Ted:”I am a technical angler – So as u can see I have added info on bait & rigs. For me & Matt bait tipped with maggot was great! For Jon & Dan pop-up/snowman with Lodge Lakes boilies – good. As the “Dad” I looked after my sons instead of fishing- set up late & help to net many fish! Tried to catch catfish on ton-up hook length with 2 big nuggets & 1.2 day live bait on a “slider” beach caster style & tried worm but caught Nil Cats!! Jon got 3 on boilies. However caught on surface 1st ever @ lodge lakes! Lots of nice incidents like row boating to brambled fish & going into water to get stuck fish. We used our baitboat all the time & occasionally the row boat after a couple of days in swims opposite the house. We spread rods towards the island & caught many more fish!! Really provided g8 food & advice , we had wonderful family holiday with only eldest son Jon trying to catch many fish, we others “chilled out”!! We are luxury relaxed fishermen!!!
Jon:”So the Tackle Tarts “come and conquered”? Well they certainly set the bar high, but after the first 12 hours I had 12 fish! Even with temperatures into the mid to late 20’s I managed 42 fish and that was fishing only 3 nights. With 13×30’s, a grass, Koi and a magnificent 65lb Catfish, I think the Tackle Tarts have it all to prove when they return! What a fantastic place, great food and we can highly recommend the local French restaurant which Gary kindly took us to.
Weather Conditions: Warm Sunny Week, showers on Friday
Which Lake: The Lodge.
