Tactics:
Lots of fish caught deep in the bowl, – 41lb fish caught once tight of the margin just below the bowl on the left, – caught a second time close in on deep water by the water aerator.
– Walked rigs to the spots, flicked then in and then chucked over the top 3/4 tennis size balls of pellet that had been soaked in lake water along with sweetcorn, crushed boillies, a few whole boillies, with salt and paprika in the mix (secret weapon 😉 ), – Rig was a simple KD rig with a single boillie hookbait and a small PVA bag with two crushed boillies in to stop hook getting tangled.
– Fish were really hot on bait with several bites coming before I had a chance to put the rod down on the rest, – Every bite and rechuck was rebaited, don’t be shy with bait !!, – First day (Saturday) fished from 3.30pm tp 9pm All other days fished from around 11am to 9pm.
– Craziest and best fishing session of my life, my whole body now aches, my back is killing and my hands feel like sand paper (and I’m only 22!!!), – It was all worth it !! PB broken and caught some of the best looking fish I have ever seen. The big common alluded me so I’m going to have to return !!
Weather:
Arrived to a very sunny lake, could see loads of fish crusing in the upper layers, – We started the week with a full moon which I think may have really got the fish active, – All week was warm, sun most days with the odd cloud, I was in shorts everyday !!
Thanks:
As always many thanks to Gary & Kerry for another cracking week. It was well worth the journey from the caribbean ! We wished we could stay longer haha !
